The plant is native to Southeast Asia, India, Sri Lanka, part of China, Madagascar, South Africa, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and the east coast of South America. The aerial part of the plant is used, which is collected throughout the year and left to dry in the sun. The main components are triterpenic acids and their sugars.
