If you see any signs of infection, such as redness, itching or burning, it is important that you see your doctor, or ask your pharmacist for advice. STEP 3 Disinfect the wound with an antiseptic such as povidone-iodine or chlorhexidine. STEP 4 Apply the Band-Aid® avoiding wrinkles. Make sure the center gauze is just over the wound.
